According to MSN.foxsports.com, in the early hours of Friday morning, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was finally released from the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
The five-divisional titlist was originally sentenced to 90 days for a domestic violence charge against his ex-partner Josie Harris, who also happens to be the mother of his three kids.
However, with good behavior, Mayweather’s jail time was reduced to just over 60 days of incarceration.
During his stint, he was housed in a 7-by-14-foot cell which consisted of a bed, toilet, sink and desk. He was also confined to his cell for 23 hours of the day, with one hour designated exercise time.
In addition, “Money” was also segregated from the general population for his own safety.
At present, we are not privy as to whether his time spent in lockdown has had a detrimental effect to his mental or physical well-being.
That being said, whilst doing time, Mayweather and close friend 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) created a boxing promotion aptly named The Money Team (TMT), and thus far have signed the likes of Andre Dirrell, Andre Berto and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Also in the TMT mix are IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib, WBA featherweight titlist Celestino Caballero and former undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah.
Although Mayweather (43-0, 26 KOs) has been on the outside looking in for the past two months, the pound-for-pound great still has a plethora of potential fights in the offing.
Former WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan and Sergio Martinez are just a few of the pugilists Mayweather could possibly throw leather with, if he so chooses.
The 35-year-old from Grand Rapids, Mich., will at some time have to sit down and figure out when would be a feasible time for his return to the ring.
However, the assumption is that Mayweather, who also holds the WBA light middleweight title, will be more interested in spending quality time with his family and friends than anything related to the sweet science.
