I wasn't charged about seeing Manny Pacquiao fight Miguel Cotto on December 1, mainly because we've already seen that fight. I think things could have possibly been a little different this time, but we'll never know.
Cotto has agreed to fight Austin "No Doubt" Trout on the same day, per ESPN's Dan Rafael. Obviously, that takes him out of the running to become Pac-Man's opponent on the same day—unless Junito is really trying to excite us by pulling a double appearance.
I'd rather see Pacquiao fight the Miguel Cotto hologram than the two opponents left for consideration.
Per Rafael in a separate ESPN article, that leaves a rematch with Timothy Bradley or a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez as the only options.
I'm overwhelmed with this emotion as I consider the prospects of those two fights: Whoop Dee Doo.
If I had to chose, I'd certainly lean towards a rematch with Bradley. At least it won't be the umpteenth meeting between the two. Because of the controversial decision from their first meeting, the fight has some intrigue.
In no way, shape or form could I see myself excited to watch Pacquiao-Marquez IX. I would really struggle to see the significance in that fight.
What would the tag-line be?
"Marquez-Pacquiao: Let's Do It Again..and Again, and Again"
Please, spare me.
You always know when a fight really has no real significance because the promoters try to sell you on the "warrior" aspect of the clash.
In truth, Marquez has become Pacquiao's fall-back guy. When all else fails, we can always fall back on Marquez, and Manny will eek out a close and disputed decision.
How many times can you go to the well?
Though I'm not overjoyed with the prospects of a Pacquiao-Bradley rematch, if we must chose between that and boxing's version of The World Series, give me Pac-Man and Bradley.
