Mayweather vs. Guerrero: Why Floyd Will Remain Undefeated
Apr 29th 2013, 19:30

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will have no problem defeating Robert Guerrero in their World Boxing Council Welterweight Title bout, set for Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather has yet to lose in 43 career fights while Guerrero has suffered one loss coupled with a technical draw and two no-contests in 35 career fights

While it won't come easy, Mayweather, who is heavily favored in the fight, will add another notch to his championship belt in the form of his 44th career victory.

It isn't a matter of if Mayweather will win; it is a matter of how he will do so. Here are a couple reasons why this is the case.

1. Experience will trump the age difference

Coming into this fight, Mayweather is 36 years old while Guerrero is just 30.

While the age difference may point to Guerrero being quicker and lighter on his feet, this type of thinking seems to be overemphasized, at times.

Mayweather didn't get to this point in his career due to luck and opponent's mishaps alone. By the time Guerrero stepped into the ring for the first time in his career, Mayweather already had 25 victories to his name.

Mayweather has fought against various boxing styles over the span of his career. There is nothing Guerrero can do that will confuse Mayweather. Look for Mayweather to lull Guerrero to sleep and control most of the tempo of the fight.

Mayweather understands what it takes to win and won't accept losing. While physical blows can break a fighter down, mental recognition and awareness in the ring goes a long way.

Based on experience and intelligence, the edge goes to Mayweather.

2. Knockout potential

In his 43 career victories, Floyd Mayweather has knocked out 26 of his opponents while Guerrero has knocked out 18 opponents in his 31 victories.

While these numbers are similar in terms of knockout percentage, Mayweather has a higher potential of knocking out "The Ghost" Guerrero based on his style of fighting.

Guerrero is known to be an extremely aggressive fighter. Mayweather will presumably commence the fight by constantly baiting Guerrero in. After a few rounds of feeling Guerrero out, "Money" Mayweather will pounce.

Guerrero's over-agressive style matched with Mayweather's highly calculated risks will be the perfect combination which will see Mayweather win in a knockout.
