Adrien Broner and Paulie Malignaggi Continue Trash Talk After The Problem's Win
Jun 23rd 2013, 05:10

Move over Floyd Mayweather, there's a new brash titleholder in the welterweight division, and his name is Adrien Broner

The 23-year-old rising star defeated WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi on Saturday night via split decision, but the end of the fight didn't end the animosity between the two. As Golden Boy Promotions tweeted out, Broner had no issues kicking a little dirt on his opponent after the win:

Malignaggi, who hugged Broner after the fight before the scorecards were read, took exception to the comments by Broner and approached him as the two once again engaged in a war of words.

The fight itself was an intriguing match that was difficult to score.

Malignaggi was the much more active fighter. According to SHOStats, he threw nearly 850 punches over the course of the 12-round fight. However, Broner was the much more efficient puncher, consistently landing power shots.

The two engaged in plenty of trash talk in the buildup of the fight, with both trying to get under each other's skin. Broner even went personal in the pre-fight buildup, calling Malignaggi's ex-girlfriend during a pre-fight press conference

With the win already in tow and Malignaggi's respect earned, Broner decided that it was a good time to bring up the sore topic for his opponent once again. All while taking the time to bring up his performance too, saying Malignaggi couldn't hit him, per Ryan Maquinana of BoxingScene:

Through Broner's rise to stardom he's often been compared to Floyd Mayweather for his impressive hand speed, power and defense. It appears he's also set on doing his best to create a controversial persona like the pound-for-pound champion.
