Andre Ward KOs Chad Dawson, Asserting His Place Among Pound-for-Pound Best
Sep 9th 2012, 04:49

Andre Ward put on the best showing of his career, dominating Chad Dawson on way to a 10th-round knockout in their super middleweight title fight in Oakland, Calif. Saturday night.

Dawson had a good Round 1, but Ward (26-0, 14 KOs) took over the rest of the way, knocking Dawson down in the third and fourth rounds, leaving Dawson (31-2, 17 KOs) a sluggish fighter towards the end of the bout, until the knockout occurred in Round 10.

Ward now cements his place as on of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world by beating Dawson, the reigning WBC light heavyweight champ, who went down in weight to take on Ward at 168 pounds.

Although  he is not known for being an overly exciting fighter, Ward put on the show of his career and his star should soar going forward.

He is now worthy of being mentioned among the best-of-the-best fighters out there, namely Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

As Mayweather and Pacquiao are entering the twilight of their illustrious careers, Ward is poised to lead the new generation of boxing superstars well into the future if he continues to fight at the level he was at Saturday night.

Dawson will have to move past this loss and focus on the light heavyweight division, as he can still rule the 175-pound division if his confidence isn't too damaged.
