Cornelius “K9” Bundrage claims he is both a promotional and managerial free agent. In a recent interview with Boxingtalk.com writer Doveed Linder, the IBF junior middleweight titleholder Bundrage, said his contract with manager Emanuel Stewart had expired.
Bundrage claims that promoters and managers have his phone ringing off the hook with offers.
“I am America’s most wanted. All the big promoters have been on my phone,” Bundrage boasted to Linder. "I want Cotto and Mayweather.”
Last month Austin Trout the WBA titleholder in the same weight class, was under the impression that the two of them would be in a unification bout in early to mid September. K9 though, is not interested in the bout and thinks he has bigger fish to fry.
Bundrage is coming off of a seventh round TKO victory over former welterweight and junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks. In the Spinks fight Bundrage looked terrible and was losing on two of the three judge's scorecards at the time of stoppage.
At 39, time maybe running out for the former reality TV star. It appears as though his only bargaining chip at this point is his IBF strap. In these days of multiple champions in the same weight class and the same organization, title belts mean little to nothing to the superstars of the sport.
If Bundrage is waiting by the phone for Mayweather or Cotto to call, he could be waiting a long time.
