Manny Pacquiao Fight Back on for November 10? Floyd Mayweather Not an Option
Aug 24th 2012, 04:41

According to a recent interview with Bob Arum, conducted by respected boxing writer and author Brad Cooney on 8countnews.com, Manny Pacquiao could still be fighting in November. In the interview, Arum stated the following:

“I have had meetings with everyone and by Monday afternoon we will announce the place, the opponent, and the date. Don't go overboard on this statement that the fight has to be on December 1st because of Manny's election. The election commission just ruled in The Philippine's that Manny can authorize somebody to file for him. He doesn't have to be back in October.”

He also went on to say that a fight with Mayweather will not happen this year and that the spring of 2013 is the target date.

This contradicts statements Manny’s manager Michael Koncz made earlier this week, which were widely reported in print and on the web.

So with Mayweather out of the picture, it looks as though Manny will be fighting one of his previous opponents, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto or Timothy Bradley.

The most dangerous of his potential opponents has to be Marquez. All three of their bouts have been close and mired in controversy. Although Marquez has yet to beat Manny, he does seem to have his number. Another loss for Manny would kill him at the negotiation table for a Mayweather super fight.

As a result, a fight with Marquez may just be too dangerous at this point.

A rematch with Tim Bradley would be a great way for Manny to get back on track. He could get a bit of revenge and regain his WBO welterweight title in the process. Although at this point, title belts mean little to nothing for a fighter such as Manny.

Cotto is also a good option, but that fight would more then likely take place in New York in December. Plus, it seems as though Arum would like to keep the scheduled date at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 10.

Any of the three previously mentioned rematches would be huge events, because anytime Manny fights, it’s a huge event.
