Adrien Broner and Antonio DeMarco Could Fight November 3 on HBO
Sep 10th 2012, 01:03

Adrien “The Problem” Broner may have been in Oakland this weekend scouting his next opponent. Broner who has an HBO date for November 3 already lined up was in attendance for WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco’s first round destruction of John Molina Jr.

According to a report by Rick Reeno for boxingscene.com, Gary Shaw, DeMarco's promoter said the following regarding a possible Broner-DeMarco matchup:

It's a discussion that I had with HBO this morning. I told them that DeMarco would fight anybody at 135-pounds, including Broner, but they have to make the money right. This is a kid who ate out of the garbage [when he was younger] and now he wants to buy a home for his family.

Shaw’s comments about DeMarco eating out of the trash were in reference to him being homeless as a child on the streets of Tijuana.

A Broner-DeMarco matchup could be beneficial to the careers of both fighters. For Broner, it would be a way to silence critics who say that he hasn’t been fighting the best fighters available and it would be another championship in a second weight division.

DeMarco would most likely be getting a career high payday and a win over Broner could make him a household name.

In his last outing Broner lost his WBO super featherweight strap on the scale when he couldn’t make the weight. In a bizarre move, less then a week before the fight, Broner Tweeted a picture of Twinkies saying he was addicted to the junk food

Broner was originally slated to be the main event for a HBO double header on October 6, but when a suitable opponent wasn’t found the network moved the date of the card to November 3. The card was going to take place in Atlantic City originally, but the location has not been announced for the new date.

Recently Broner, and WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero, have been engaged in a war of words via Twitter and even had a face-to-face confrontation this past Friday. However, the difference in weight makes the chances of them fighting in the near future highly unlikely.

There seems to be a lot of options for the brash Cincinnati fighter, but at this point DeMarco might be the best.
