According to various reports, legendary trainer Emanuel Steward has passed away. Earlier today, highly respected boxing writer Steve Kim tweeted the following:
I was just given a call by Jim Lampley, who tells me that Emanuel Steward has passed away."He's gone," were his words. RIP... #boxing

Johnathon Banks, who was also a pupil of Steward, tweeted the following:
He's gone but NEVER!! will be forgotten. You fought a good fight you finished your course.With tears i'm saying..R.I.P. Emanuel steward

Over his career, the Hall of Fame trainer worked with ring legends such as Tommy Hearns, Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, Oscar De La Hoya and Naseem Hamed to name just a few. In addition to the big-name fighters that he worked with, Steward impacted the lives of countless young people through his work at the Kronk Gym in Detroit.
Over the past few weeks, there have been conflicting reports as to what Steward was ailing from. Some reports said colon cancer while others said it was a stomach ailment.
Steward, 68, will be greatly missed by the entire boxing community and was truly a great ambassador for the sport.
