Peter 'Kid Chocolate' Quillin a Top-5 Middleweight with a Win Tonight
Oct 20th 2012, 19:25

Tonight, Showtime’s Championship Boxing presents a great fight card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.  There are a number of exciting bouts, but I think the most intriguing matchup is Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin vs. Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam for the WBO Middleweight Title.

Peter Quillin (27-0, 20 KO’s) is on the verge of becoming a boxing superstar.  He is well-spoken,
charismatic, and incredibly talented.  He has the potential star appeal of a Floyd Mayweather except he is much more likeable. I am picking Quillin to win the title from N’Jikam.

Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0, 17 KO’s) is the defending WBO middleweight titleholder whom nobody has ever heard of. He boasts an impressive record against subpar opponents.  He has been extremely sheltered throughout his career and has fought mostly in France. This fight will be his first in the United States.

N’Jikam however, is no slouch.

He has an extensive amateur background and is a former Olympian.  He has a decisive edge in experience over Quillin.

The only problem is that Quillin has come a long way in a short period of time. His trainer is Freddie Roach, and Freddie has boosted Quillin's boxing IQ.  Quillin has learned a lot from the best trainer in the world and he has been a model pupil unlike some of Roach's other fighters.

Besides being a bigger and better natural athlete than N’Jikam, Quillin has also faced stronger opposition. His biggest wins have come against Ronald “Winky” Wright, Craig McEwan, and Jesse Brinkley. This list may not sound great, but it is a big upgrade in comparison to N’Jikam’s fight history.

Both men have strong chins. N’Jikam has only been knocked down once in his professional career.  Quillin has never been on the canvas.

Quillin will win his first major title tonight with intelligent boxing and by using his size to bully N’Jikam.  When Peter Quillin wins, he will become the middleweight champion that all the big names are scared to face.

Tonight, a star will be born and his name is Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin—you can quote me on that.
