Junior featherweight Scott Quigg has been one of Britain's best prospects for the past few years and this week he got the stamp of approval from the British Boxing Writers Club, which will give him the prestigious "Best Young Boxer of the Year" award. England's Quigg (24-0-1, 17 KOs), 23, will receive the award during a ceremony Oct. 15 at a London hotel. The award has gone to several British fighters who have gone on to great acclaim, including Ricky Hatton (whose Hatton Promotions handles Quigg), Joe Calzaghe, "Prince" Naseem Hamed, Nigel Benn, Frank Bruno, Barry McGuigan, John Conteh and Ken Buchanan.
