Composition of a new set of judges to score the fourth fight of Mexican counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has become a major issue following the claim of Marquez that he was robbed of victory in their last three fights.
Pacquiao and Marquez fought for the first time in 2004 at the MGM Grand, where Pacquiao knocked down Marquez three times in the first round, but the Mexican stood his ground in the later rounds to get a draw verdict.
In 2008, Pacquiao knocked down Marquez once to win via a split decision, and in 2011, the Filipino boxing star won via a majority decision.
The third encounter between Pacquiao and Marquez last June 9 was marked by judging controversy, with Marquez protesting the majority decision of the judges, claiming was again robbed of his victory.
According to ESPN, the new judges named by NSAC are Adelaide Byrd of Las Vegas, Steve Weisfeld of New Jersey and John Keane of Great Britain.
NSAC also named referee Kenny Bayless as the third man in the ring.
Meanwhile NSAC also approved Thursday the application of Floyd Mayweather's friend 50 Cent for a license to promote boxing fights in the state of Nevada.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, originally planned to engage in boxing promotion with his friend Floyd Mayweather, Jr. using TMT (The Money Team) as the name of their planned promotions company.
However they had a falling out after Mayweather reportedly failed to give his share in the proposed partnership.
While Mayweather was serving his term in prison for domestic violence charges, Jackson applied for a license from NSAC under TMT but when Mayweather was released after serving two months, he did not show any more interest in the partnership.
Jackson then decided to go on his own and used SMS as his promotional business name.The letters "SMS" is reported to represent Jackson's audio head phones line.
