Arthur Abraham Set to Meet Robert Stieglitz in Super-Middleweight Rematch
Jan 30th 2013, 21:41

Super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham will face off with Robert Stieglitz in a rematch for the WBO belt on March 23 at GETEC-Arena in Magdeburg, Germany, according to promoter Sauerland Event, via ESPN.

The 32-year-old titlist, who sports a 36-3 record (28 KO), defeated Stieglitz on Aug. 25 in Berlin via unanimous decision, 116-112, 116-112, 115-113.

Abraham has won his last four matches since losing via unanimous decision to Andre Ward in May 2011. He has scored two knockout victories in those four wins, including a TKO of Mehdi Bouadla in December.

He finally won the super middleweight title against Stieglitz after losing title fights to Ward in 2011 and Carl Froch in 2010 (both via unanimous decision).

This time around, Abraham will be facing Stieglitz in the 31-year-old's home town.

Abraham said, via the ESPN report:

For me it is a question of honor. Robert was brave enough to face me in my backyard. Now I am traveling to Magdeburg and have to enter the lion's den to fight him.

Stieglitz's loss to Arthur in August was only the third dropped fight of his career. He boasts a 43-3 record (24 KO) and he had defended his title six times before his defeat in Berlin.

Additionally, he won via third-round knockout against novice pro Michal Nieroda last Saturday in Spain to get the opportunity to clash with Abraham again.

Stieglitz had won 11 straight bouts before falling to Abraham in August, and he's hoping the hometown advantage propels him to victory in March.

It should be yet another scintillating affair in Germany as the two super middleweights touch gloves.
