For all the talk of a potentially uneven fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, there is certainly a lot of drama and mixed opinions on the outcome of the megafight.
When the two fighters square off on May 4, it will be more than just a welterweight bout between two distinguished boxers. Given the drama that has unraveled recently, there’s plenty of reason to believe things could get ugly—even after the outcome is determined.
Mayweather has always been a proponent of talking trash to get inside his opponent’s head; that’s just his nature. And while Guerrero is often reserved outside the ring, he too has participated in some extracurricular wordsmithing that has only served to ramp up the intrigue of a fight that may not live up to expectations.
And then there are both fighters’ camps, each engaging in some trash talk of their own. As World Boxing News noted on Twitter, Mayweather’s father has been at odds with Guerrero’s as the media circus has heated up:

Those particular displays of machismo are par for the course in big-money boxing, but there’s no denying the impact they will have when emotions are running high Saturday night. If May Day wasn’t already about pride, it is now.
We’ve heard all the angles by now: Mayweather is the superior fighter, but he hasn’t fought in a year and could begin to decline soon. Guerrero is younger and more aggressive but doesn’t have the skill to take down the pound-for-pound kingpin.
In all reality, things aren’t likely to play out the way everyone expects.
Guerrero is priming for the biggest fight of his career—one in which he has a chance to take down the best fighter of his generation. Regardless of technical skills and win-loss records, the Ghost will be prepared. And, of course, he’ll have a score to settle and an ego to deflate.
That’s not to say Guerrero will win on Saturday, but he’s certainly not going to bow down to his opponent when the scores are announced. One way or the other, there are going to be post-bout fireworks.
Likewise, Mayweather isn’t going to be a gracious loser should Guerrero hand him the first blemish on his 43-0 record. With as much post-fight drama as we have seen from Money over the years, no one could be prepared for what will happen if the pound-for-pound kingpin comes up on the wrong end of the scorecards.
No one knows what will happen when the two touch gloves, but this certainly has the makings of a shocking bout with an even more shocking ending, especially if either fighter’s camp gets involved.
There are few potential scenarios that don’t end with a bang. It’s looking more and more likely none of them will play out on Saturday.
