From the first bell to the end of the fight, there was never any doubt. Floyd "Money" Mayweather is still at the pinnacle of his career.
Mayweather controlled the pace of the bout against Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero last Saturday and won by a unanimous score of 117-111.
What was even more impressive than the scorecard though was how good Mayweather looked after a year out of the ring.
Money showed incredible toughness and fortitude during the fight. According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Mayweather even injured his right hand midway through the fight, yet he continued to throw jabs at Guerrero with it.
Saturday's victory improved Mayweather's record to a perfect 44-0, an incredible feat for a man who's now 36 years old.
Despite rumblings that his age may be detrimental and that his jail time may have been too big a distraction, Mayweather was able to ignore all of that and deliver a classic performance.
Everything about Mayweather's showing on Saturday was classic Money. He had his usual star-studded entourage which included Lil' Wayne. He displayed his dominant pound-for-pound style throughout the entirety of the bout.
The only thing that may have changed about Mayweather is how he approached the fight from a publicity standpoint. Usually, Mayweather is very boisterous about his fights, which often translates into a high number of pay-per-view buys.
However, rumors are circulating that the fight may have had less than a million buys on Showtime. According to Rafael, a lack of media interaction on the part of Mayweather may have caused the fight to get less than the projected one million-plus buys.
Nevertheless, promoting a fight and performing well in it are two different aspects of the industry. And no matter how good or bad Mayweather was at advertising his fight, there's no question that he dominated it.
Now, as Mayweather begins to ride into the sunset of his career with five fights left, Saturday's fight proved that, if nothing else, Money can finish as good as he started.
