That Mike Tyson Pigeon Cartoon We All Wanted Is Coming to 'Adult Swim'
May 10th 2013, 20:54

In a move that makes complete sense, Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" block will soon feature a cartoon based on Mike Tyson and his talking pigeon solving mysteries.

Variety (h/t Uproxx) is the bearer of the fantastic news. It reports that six new shows are headed to Adult Swim programming that will air from 9 pm to 6 am on Cartoon Network. One of those shows is Mike Tyson Mysteries, and you might be interested to hear more:

In the new animated comedy series Mike Tyson Mysteries, Mike Tyson is taking the fight from the boxing ring to the streets… by solving mysteries! Armed with a magical tattoo on his face and a trusty associate by his side — a talking pigeon — if you have a problem that needs solving, Iron Mike is in your corner.

The series incorporates live-action appearances featuring Mighty Mike himself, and the gloves come off as the former heavyweight champ and his fowl-mouthed partner gear up for weekly adventures as they put unsolved mysteries — like how to defeat a super computer at chess or why a famous author/werewolf can’t finish his novel — down for the count. Animated quarter-hour from Warner Bros Animation.

As with most things on Adult Swim, this promises to be audacious and compact, like an explosion of entertainment to dazzle the eyes.

It sounds like this is Pro Stars combined with Scooby Doo mixed with Pinky and the Brain, which has me giddier than Floyd Mayweather in front of an ATM.

If you are wondering why there is a talking pigeon in the cartoon, it actually makes sense...well, minus the talking. If you recall, Tyson is something of an avid homing-pigeon racer—something documented by Animal Planet back in 2011.

If you would have told me back in the '90s that Tyson would be a beloved athlete with his very own cartoon coming to television, I would have called you a liar, and a crazy one at that. However, now, hearing that Tyson will feature in his own show/cartoon, in which his best friend is a talking pigeon and they go around solving mysteries, I think that that sounds just about right.
