On Saturday May 4, 2013, Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KOs) squares off against Francesco Pianeta (28-0-1, 15 KOs) live from the SAP Arena in Maheim, Germany.
Aside from the Ring lineal championship, Klitschko will be defending his IBF, WBO, IBO and “super” WBA titles against a relatively unknown southpaw, who is originally from Italy but now calls Germany home.
Klitschko versus Pianeta will be broadcast live on EpixHD in the United States, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.
At 28 years old and measuring 6'5", Pianeta is a young and physically imposing heavyweight. It remains to be seen whether he can match Klitschko’s skill in the ring in what many expect to be another easy win for Dr. Steelhammer.
Klitschko has been dominant throughout most of his career and will be making his 17th title defense against Pianeta. While we expect tonight’s biggest boxing headlines to come out of Las Vegas, Pianeta has a chance to reshape the heavyweight landscape with an upset of one of the greatest heavyweights—perhaps the greatest—of his era.
