Manny Pacquiao Still Interested in Superfight with Floyd Mayweather Jun 8th 2013, 17:38 Manny Pacquiao isn't ready to throw in the towel in regard to a potential megafight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. The two stars have been linked as potential opponents for years, but they have never been able to come to terms on a deal. According to adviser Michael Koncz (via Chris Williams of Boxing News 24), Pacquiao is still interested in fighting Mayweather before he retires: Floyd is always a possibility. We've always said that we would fight Floyd. I think that if Manny has an exciting and impressive win come November 24, then Floyd won't have any excuse if he really wants to fight. There are a few complications standing in the way of this potential blockbuster fight. First of all, Pacquiao has been on the losing end of his last two fights against Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley—both of whom are not even close to being in the same league as Mayweather. Pacquiao would certainly need to prove he's worthy of facing Mayweather before Money's camp would be willing to give him any consideration. Pacman is scheduled to face Brandon Rios in November, and he'll need to convincingly win that contest to have a chance at Mayweather. Additionally, Pacquiao would likely need to acquiesce to Mayweather's calls for Olympic-style drug testing. The two sides had come to an agreement in principle on a fight back in 2010, but Pacquiao didn't want to be subjected to random blood tests in the final month leading up to the fight. He believed that the blood tests would "weaken him." Finally, there's a small matter of money standing in the way of a potential bout against Mayweather.  Pacquiao will certainly need to agree to take less money than Mayweather, who is undeniably the bigger draw right now. Mayweather would require a deal that made him the clear lead dog in this fight.  At this point, it seems unlikely these two fighters will ever step foot in the ring against one another.
