Herring gets win at Barclays Jun 22nd 2013, 21:13 Coram, Long Island native Jamel Herring went to 4-0, with a unanimous decision over Calvin Smith in the first bout from Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. The judges saw it 40-35, 40-36, 40-36 for the Marine who repped the US at the London Olympics. Mike Stafford, the trainer for the headliner Adrien Broner, was in Herring's corner. He had to like a lot of what Herring did; the lefty who now lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, was aggressive, busy, threw some nice combos and was a step in class above the loser, who dropped to 2-4.
