Carl Froch vs. George Groves Fight Announced for 2013
Jul 23rd 2013, 11:33, by Mike Chiari

Carl "The Cobra" Froch is arguably the best super-middleweight boxer in the world, but his skills will certainly be put to the test later this year when he defends his IBF and WBA Super-Middleweight Championships against George Groves, according to Sky Sports News.

Froch has a ton of momentum behind him at the moment as he is coming off a victory over Mikkel Kessler. That win netted Froch the WBA title, but it also allowed him to avenge his previous loss to the Dane from back in 2010.

The British fan favorite will enter his fight against Groves with a 31-2 record, although two of those losses have come over the past three years. Groves is 11 years the 36-year-old Froch's junior, and he is considered to be one of the fastest rising stars in British boxing.

Groves currently sports an unblemished 19-0 record, and he is the holder of both the Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Championship and the British Super-Middleweight Championship. Froch obviously has the edge in experience and quality of opponents, but Groves is an explosive young talent with gobs of potential.

Froch and Groves do share a common opponent as they both defeated veteran Glen Johnson, so that is certainly one way to compare them. While Froch needed a somewhat controversial majority decision to get past Johnson in 2011, Groves beta him decisively by unanimous decision last year.

That doesn't necessarily mean that things will translate to their fight later in the year, but there is no doubt that Froch has to be wary of his young and hungry challenger.
