Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield Share a Laugh About That Whole Ear Thing
Aug 22nd 2013, 22:19, by Gabe Zaldivar

Time heals all wounds, even half-masticated earlobes.

Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports happened upon a sight that still takes some getting used to: former boxers Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson carrying on as if they were old, chummy friends.

As noted, the snippet comes from Being: Mike Tyson, the much larger and far more in-depth series that will debut late next month on Fox.

"The six-part series on Tyson's life debuts on Fox at 4 p.m. ET on Sept. 22. It moves to Fox Sports 1 on Sept. 24 at 10:30 p.m. ET, where it will stay for its run," Iole writes.

You get an idea of what the series will cover in the teaser posted below. It's remarkable that Tyson—one of the most vilified athletes during his boxing career—has transformed himself into someone who is once again captivating the nation.

What's more, the man he once bit in the ring (twice) is able to sit across from him and laugh at the awful scene from 1997 as if it were some hilarious moment they once shared from summer camp.

When you watch the video, you get the very real sense that Holyfield has not only forgiven Tyson for taking a chunk away from his ear, but he has embraced this new Tyson—the one he found to be far more huggable when the two initially reunited back in February of this year

If you need a refresher of what it was like 16 years ago, Michael Leboff of Next Impulse Sports spotted this video of that June night back in 1997. The look of confusion and frustration on Holyfield's face has dissolved and is replaced by a glowing smile when he chats with his former rival. Sure, he states he wanted to go right back at Tyson during the bout, but he tells that part of the story through bouts of laughter.

And Tyson, once chiseled like a boxer made from stone, is far softer now, and he is far quicker to crack a joke.

Time wins another one, because two enemies just sat down and shared some laughs over one of the most peculiar and bizarre moments in boxing history.
