Welterweight contender Luis Carlos Abregu, who was under consideration for one of the televised slots on the Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios HBO PPV card on Nov. 23 in Macau, China, will instead be resting him injured right hand. Abregu (35-1, 28 KOs), 29, of Argentina, will be out action for the rest of the year after recent surgery on the damaged hand, his matchmaker, Sean Gibbons, told ESPN.com. “His hand has been bothering him, so he had surgery and is out for the year,” Gibbons said.
