Floyd Mayweather Will Not Suffer Letdown Against Canelo Alvarez Sep 5th 2013, 11:00, by Kyle Newport On Sept. 14, Floyd "Money" Mayweather will add to his legacy when he and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez square off at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The numbers for Maryweather are impressive. He is a perfect 44-0 and is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He doesn't rely on knockouts and has only 26 of them. When only looking at the record, it would appear that Alvarez is right there with "Money". Alvarez is 42-0-1 with 30 of his wins coming via the knockout.  Don't be fooled, however, Mayweather is as good as it gets.  It would be quite the feat if Alvarez is able to pull off the upset, but don't count on it. Mayweather will be ready to go in his first bout since May. He has appeared in only two fights since October of 2011 while Alvarez has appeared in four during that span. This will be an interesting contrast of styles. Mayweather is known for being a defensive fighter with great footwork. Alvarez uses his strength to land powerful punches and beat his opponents. Getting the knockout is what Alvarez needs to focus on. Opponents have a hard time of landing punches against Mayweather, so Alvarez is going to have to make his punches count. As for Mayweather, he will be able to add to his incredible career as long as he sticks to his strategy. He has the uncanny ability to avoid his opponent's attack. The 36-year-old has a winning style of allowing opponents to throw as many punches as they want early in fights and wear themselves down before Mayweather turns up his attack. He takes advantage of his opponents with quick punches by using great footwork that allows him to get power behind his blows while still being able to move around if his opponents counter. Many expect Mayweather to be able to win. It's the smart pick, but anything can happen in boxing. Alvarez is a powerful fighter who is capable of knocking out his opponent. Mayweather's quickness will be the key to the fight and he will attack when sees the perfect opportunity.
