Las Vegas has no shortage of great things to bet on for the upcoming Floyd Mayweather-Saul Alvarez fight on Saturday, Sept. 14, but there are some bets that are nothing short of locks.
There will be three bets that are the smartest to take.
Mayweather is the favorite over Alvarez, and bettors would be wise to wager accordingly. Also, betting on the length of the fight should be simple, based on the past history of these fighters in their respective careers.
Last but not least, there is a very favorable line for the total point differential in the scorecards at the end of the fight.
Let's take a look at the lines for each of these bets and what you should do with them.

Mayweather Wins (-280)
If you're looking to make any money on this fight, betting on Mayweather to win is a wise choice. Granted, it won't bring much of a return, but that all depends on how much you're willing to drop on the fight.
Mayweather comes into this fight with a sensational 44-0 record and owns the title as the greatest fighter alive today. His opponent, 23-year-old Alvarez, has far less experience under his belt, but does have a 42-0-1 record.
While Alvarez is one of the more talented fighters in the sport today, he still has a ton of proving to do in order to get the respect of being called a favorite against Mayweather.
Money May routinely makes great fighters look silly, and Alvarez may be the next in line.
Mayweather is so good that boxing fans are in a "see it to believe it" mindset for his fights. Until we all see an opponent of Mayweather's have his hand raised at the end of the fight, there is no justification for picking anyone but Money May.
Over 11.5 Rounds (-350)
There are so many reasons to take the over in this bet.
For starters, Mayweather is not an overly aggressive fighter and has proven himself to be a great defensive boxer instead. This often allows for longer matches—namely ones that end in decisions—against most of his better opponents.
In seven of his last nine fights, Mayweather has gone the distance, with exceptions coming against Ricky Hatton and Victor Ortiz. Considering the hype and his overall talent, Alvarez is far greater than both of those fighters and should not be an easy target for Mayweather to beat early.
Instead, Mayweather will respect Canelo's power and fight the same defensive fight he is used to. And, as we all know, Money May will likely score a victory that isn't exactly flashy, but effective nonetheless.
Alvarez also tends to be a defensive fighter, so the opportunity presents itself for there to be a stalemate during this bout, which further makes it likely that a decision will take place. Alvarez has done more in the knockout department in the past, but he's never seen a fighter with the talent of Mayweather.
Total Points on Scorecards (Alvarez +9.5, -125)
Unless you believe that Mayweather will totally dominate this matchup and win a vast majority of the rounds, then it's smart to take Alvarez with this bet.
Should each round be scored 10-9, Mayweather would have to win 11 rounds in order to cover the spread. That is highly unlikely, as even Money loses rounds in fights, and that should be especially true against Alvarez.
On top of that, Alvarez has the kind of power that has the potential to stun Mayweather and knock him to the canvas. If that happens, Alvarez would be one step closer to making this a tighter match in the points department.
It will be extremely difficult for Mayweather to keep up the kind of pace that he needs to win by such a large margin over Alvarez, so do yourself a favor, and take Canelo with this bet.
