Mayweather vs. Canelo: Money Continues to Dominate in Spotlight Sep 19th 2013, 11:00, by Kyle Newport When it comes to fighting in the spotlight, there is nobody that can match Floyd "Money" Mayweather. The champion proved that once again with his dominant performance in "The One" against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez over the weekend. Any critics the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world had entering his latest fight should be gone. He put together another dominant performance in the ring, and it came against a much younger opponent. The 36-year-old didn't let age become an issue. He physically dominated the 23-year-old challenger in about every way possible. It was a showdown of two fighters with completely different styles. Mayweather is one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time, and his quickness can't be matched. Canelo's power was expected to provide a challenge for Money. Once the fight started, it was obvious who the better fighter was.  Mayweather landed 46 percent of his punches compared to Alvarez's 22 percent. In each round from the fifth to the 11th, Money landed at least 50 percent of his power punches. Alvarez, on the other hand, landed more than 36 percent of his power punches in only one round. His delivery wasn't fast enough to get to Money, which led to a lot of wasted energy. All of the missed punches resulted in Canelo wearing down quickly, and Mayweather dominated the later rounds to secure a victory.  In what was ruled a majority decision, the outcome of the fight was never in doubt. Mayweather continued to add to his impressive resume with the victory. The champion improved his record to 45-0 over the weekend and handed his opponent his first loss in 43 matches. Each of Money's last eight fights have come at the MGM Grand, and he has yet to lose there. Mayweather is now 22-0 in title bouts.  Nobody has been able to take down Mayweather. He has beaten the likes of Robert Guerrero, Miguel Cotto and Oscar De La Hoya. Canelo now joins the list, which makes fans wonder if Mayweather will ever lose a fight. The answer appears to be no, but stay tuned. Mayweather's dominance in the spotlight is legendary.
