Floyd "Money" Mayweather used his legendary quickness to beat Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in "The One" on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas.
Although he was declared the winner by majority decision, it very easily could've been a unanimous decision.
The title bout had plenty of intrigue as both fighters brought something different to the ring.
Mayweather is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He wins by using his quickness and a great defensive approach.
Alvarez, meanwhile, is a young and powerful fighter. The 23-year-old entered the fight with a 42-0-1 record and had recorded 30 knockouts.
Something had to give in this fight, and it came as no surprise that Money was able to come out on top.
The 36-year-old manipulated the entire fight by setting the tone early and dominating the later rounds on his way to a 12-round victory.
CompuBox shows just how Mayweather was able to use his quickness to his advantage.
Canelo came into this bout on some kind of a roll. He had landed 42 percent of his punches in his last seven fights, but he was able to make contact on only 22 percent of his punches in this match.
The challenger landed more than 36 percent of his power punches in only one round and landed only 73 of 232 power punches. His only chance was to win via the knockout, but he wasn't able to make contact enough to make an impact.
Alvarez made contact on more than 26 percent of his jabs only once, and he never landed more than 31 percent in any round. Meanwhile, Money finished below that mark only once.
Mayweather's defensive approach and quickness frustrated Canelo all night. Alvarez was too slow in his delivery, and he was worn after the early rounds.
Quickness didn't come into play just on defense. Money used quick jabs to defeat his opponent. He landed at least 40 percent of his punches in nine different rounds, and he connected on at least 50 percent of his power punches in every round from the fifth through the 11th.
Money just kept moving, and he was able to come away with the victory. Canelo wasn't able to use his strength because he wasn't fast enough with his delivery. Mayweather was quick in avoiding punches, and his counters were just as fast.
Mayweather improved his record to 45-0, and he looks like he will be able to remain undefeated for the remainder of his career. He has taken on the best and won every time. Nobody has been able to come up with a game plan to take down the champion, so don't expect anyone to figure one out after this fight.
Quickness was the key against Canelo, and Mayweather added to his legacy with an impressive victory in Las Vegas.
