England’s Matthew Hatton, the younger brother of former two-division titleholder Ricky Hatton and a regular on his undercards, announced his retirement from boxing this week after a 13-year pro career. While Matthew Hatton (43-7-2, 17 KOs), 32, did not achieve what his brother did, he was in a lot of crowd-pleasing fights and reached his peak when he won the vacant European welterweight title by outpointing Gianluca Branco in 2010. Hatton defended the title twice, but gave it up for a shot at a world title.
