Deontay Wilder Eyes Up Inevitable Fight with Tyson Fury
Oct 29th 2013, 15:20, by Matt Cheetham

Deontay Wilder has set his sights on fighting the winner of February's bout between Tyson Fury and David Haye for a world heavyweight title next year, as Jeff Powell reports in the Daily Mail.

The explosive heavyweight, who recently sparred with Haye, seemingly anticipates Fury prevailing. Per Powell, Wilder stated, "We are the two exciting young heavyweights in the world. My fight with Fury is inevitable and I will have no problem travelling to England to make it happen. I love it over there."

Wilder maintained his stunning, unbeaten streak of 30 straight winsall by way of knockout—by securing a fourth-round stoppage against Nicolai Firtha on Saturday.

Firtha had previously suffered defeat to Fury after a fifth-round knockout, but he did manage to floor the British fightersomething he failed to repeat against Wilder.

The Bronze Bomber was initially troubled during the first round but swiftly knocked down his opponent three times, ending the contest a round faster than Fury.

Following this latest victory, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaeferrevealed his intentions for his fighter:

He envisions Wilder fighting Bermane Stiverne, the No. 1 contender for the vacant WBC title, should Vitali Klitschko announce his retirement, as is anticipated

The elder Klitschko has announced he will run for presidency in the Ukraine, almost certainly curtailing his boxing career, as reported by BBC News.

Should Wilder emerge with the title against Stiverne, he would seek a unification fight with Wladimir Klitschko and follow it up with a clash against Fury or Haye, as Powell confirms.

On paper, this seems a refreshing revival for the heavyweight scene, which has struggled with the Klitschko brothers' relentless dominance.

After Wilder's prolonged run against undistinguished opponents, fans have been desperate for Wilder to challenge a more notable adversary.

Schaefer's vision would give him exactly that and would quickly reveal if he warrants his substantial hype.

While Wilder has seemingly lined up Fury, Haye is still favoured to beat his domestic rival, which would make Haye the more likely opponent. Either way, it seems Wilder will finally put his unblemished record up against some of the best in his division.
