Kell Brook scored a signature victory Saturday, crushing Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko in the fourth round to win by TKO.
After two tentative opening rounds, Brook stepped his game up in the third. He landed a series of vicious blows before eventually flooring Senchenko after a nasty left jab-right cross combo.
Senchenko was somehow able to survive the round, and he showed signs of life in the fourth. Senchenko, who ended Ricky Hatton's career in his last fight, connected with several solid punches at the midway point of the round, putting Brook on his heels.
However, the Brit showed his class as the round concluded.
He survived the potential crisis Senchenko presented and responded in resounding fashion. After placing a brutal right hook on Senchennko's chin, Brook immediately struck with a left jab and glancing right uppercut as the Ukrainian tried to clench him.
Senchenko was sent sprawling to the ground, and the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
With the win, Brook proved that he is a true welterweight title contender.
He improved to 31-0 (21 KOs) and earned a shot at the IBF welterweight title. He will face the winner of Devon Alexander (current champion) and Shawn Porter, who fight on Dec. 7.
If he can beat the winner of Alexander-Porter, the undefeated Brook will have the potential to reach superstardom. The only welterweights in the world ranked ahead of him by Ring are Floyd Mayweather, Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.
Brook, 27, should earn a bout with one of those elite fighters if he takes the IBF belt.
For now, Brook will have to wait. He should be feeling very confident, though, especially after he received shout outs from some boxing legends, including fellow Brits Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe.

Despite the loss, Senchenko still has plenty left in the tank. The former WBA welterweight champion (2009-2012) was fresh off a dominant victory over Hatton, and he is still relatively fresh at 36 years of age.
He drops to 33-2 (22 KOs) with this loss, but he is still a force to be reckoned within his division.
