Analyzing Canelo's 2014 plans Oct 28th 2013, 22:01, by Dan Rafael When former unified junior middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez told ESPN.com on Monday that he planned to fight three times on pay-per-view in 2014 -- no opponents or sites are set yet -- one thing was noticeably absent from his schedule. None of Alvarez's planned fight dates -- March 8, July 26 and Nov. 22 -- land on either of the two major boxing weekends that feature top Mexican fighters. Traditionally, there is a big fight with a Mexican star on Cinco de Mayo weekend in May and on Mexican Independence Day weekend in September.
