GGG forces Stevens' corner to pull plug Nov 3rd 2013, 04:05, by Michael Woods Gennady Golovkin knocked Brooklyn-born Curtis Stevens to the mat with a left hook in Round 2 on Saturday night at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Most expected the middleweight titleholder to close the show and finish off Stevens, but his opponent didn't cooperate. He hung tough, stayed smart and made it through Round 8. Stevens landed scoring blows along the way -- more than Golovkin is used to absorbing -- but body shots in the eighth got to him.
