Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, one of the best fighters in the world, has his eye on winning a world title in a third weight division, which is why he formally renounced his alphabet junior flyweight title this week in order to pursue a flyweight belt. Gonzalez, 26, of Nicaragua, is one of boxing’s heaviest hitters pound-for-pound and fought three times in 2013, winning all by knockout. But he did not defend his 108-pound world title in any of the bouts, instead fighting once as a bantamweight and twice as a flyweight in nontitle fights.
