Floyd Mayweather Asks Fans to Vote on His Next Opponent
Feb 3rd 2014, 05:37, by Joseph Zucker

Floyd Mayweather is leaving his fate up to the fans.

The unbeaten world champion posted on his Instagram that he was putting his next opponent up to a vote. The choices are Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana:

On one hand, it's pretty cool that "Money" is letting somebody else decide whom he will fight next, barring that he's not completely messing with everybody. On the other hand, this is excellent trolling on both candidates, as Mayweather must think so little of each fighter that he doesn't even care who's next.

Khan has a 28-3 record, with his last win coming against Julio Diaz in April 2013.

Freddie Roach seems to think that the 27-year-old would give Mayweather a great fight, telling the Ringside Toe 2 Toe Podcast (via Sky Sports):

That's not an easy fight. I've always said Amir has the right style to beat Floyd if he fights correctly and doesn't stay in the pocket too long.

I always thought he could beat him with his speed. I think he's faster than Mayweather and that's what it takes to beat him.

Floyd might have his hands full on the night.

Mayweather tweeted out an artist's rendition of what a fight between the two may look like:

A bout against Maidana would arguably seem more appropriate after his unanimous-decision victory over Adrien Broner in December 2013.

However, Mayweather may have to wait on that, as Broner exercised his right to a rematch against Maidana following his loss.

The champ posted another image, this time of him taking it to Maidana:

No matter which way the fans go, Mayweather would likely be the favorite. Despite being 36 years old, he has shown no signs of slowing down. You'd have to believe that he could handle either Khan or Maidana without much issue.

Maybe in his next vote, "Money May" will list Manny Pacquiao as one of the options.
