Lightweight Angelo Santana, a Cuban defector now living in Miami, was a prospect on the rise last year. He had scored a 2012 knockout of the year candidate against Johnny Garcia on national television and was supposed to fight for an interim title last April in his first fight after drilling Garcia. However, his opponent, Carlos Cardenas, dropped out with an injury. In stepped unheralded Bahodir Mamadjonov for what was downgraded to a nontitle bout.
