When Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. meets Brian Vera on Saturday night in the Alamodome, he'll be facing a defining moment in his career.
And we'll bring you all the live action, as it happens, from San Antonio.
Chavez Jr. (47-1-1, 32 KO) has a gaudy record and a highly recognizable last name, but he's quite possibly on his last legs as a serious professional prizefighter. His last two years have been a disaster, and he's looking to "avenge" his gift of a victory over Vera from last year.
Vera (23-7, 14 KO) seemed to get robbed in his first fight with Chavez Jr. last September. He threw more and landed more punches in virtually every single round, and he deserved better than a unanimous-decision loss.
On Saturday night, he looks to settle the score.
In the opening contest, boxing history will be on the line when Vasyl Lomachenko attempts to win a world title in just his second professional fight. But to do so, he'll need to get by the rugged Orlando Salido.
Lomachenko (1-0, 1 KO) is considered by many to be the greatest amateur fighter in boxing history. He jumped to the professional ranks last October—after two Olympic gold medals and a 396-1 record as an amateur—and would be the quickest to a world title in boxing history, should he win Saturday night.
Salido (40-12-2, 28 KO) is a three-time champion, but he lost his WBO Featherweight Championship on the scales Friday, when he failed to make the 126-pound limit. As a result, only Lomachenko can leave San Antonio as the champion.
Our live coverage will begin at 9:45 p.m. ET.
You can watch all the live action on HBO.
