Manny Pacquiao has reportedly came to a decision on who and when his next fight will be, as the eight-division champion is said to have chosen a fourth bout with Juan Manuel Marquez to take place on Nov. 10 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. according to Fightnews.com (h/t ABS-CBNnews.com)
Citing an unnamed source, FightNews.com said a rematch with current WBO welterweight champ, Timothy Bradley, was not picked due to Pacquiao aiming for a 2013 date with the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr..
With the report of Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs) choosing a fourth battle with Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KOs) comes some good and bad news.
The bad news is that the boxing fans will see "Pac-Man" fighting Marquez for a fourth time, which is sure to bore most of the general fanbase, as it will be something we have seen over and over again.
The good news is that the reasoning behind Pacquiao's picking Marquez is because he wants to fight Mayweather next year, according to the report.
I don't see what choosing Marquez over Bradley, or even a rematch with Miguel Cotto has to do with the possibility of a Mayweather showdown in 2013, but if it plays a role in getting the mega fight signed, then watching a fight the world has seen three times before won't be so bad.
"Pac-Man's" next move in the ring is not official by any means, but if the report is true, it will truly be a good news-bad news situation in the end.
