Klitschko vs Charr: Why Charr Will Lose His 1st Match in Boxing Title Bout
Sep 8th 2012, 00:11

Manuel Charr will try his hand at dethroning current heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko when the two square off on Saturday night in Moscow, but Diamond Boy will no doubt have his work cut out for him.

Klitschko has become unbeatable during his title reign in boxing. He hasn't lost in nine years since his bout with Lennox Lewis, and Klitschko has successfully defended his title throughout that span.

His most recent unanimous decision victory over Dereck Chisora is proof that the 41-year-old still has plenty left in the tank to go the distance, which is a result that is fully expected in Klitschko's bout with Charr.

As made evident in that victory, Charr's youth will give him no advantage over the battle-tested Klitschko.

Klitschko's measurements give him a distinct advantage in this fight as well.

The champ is a full four inches taller than his opponent, and that will hurt Charr's chances at getting a knockout. Charr will find himself needing to punch up to hit his taller opponent, and that will help alleviate Diamond Boy's power punches.

Charr has 11 wins by way of knockout, so clearly that is something Diamond Boy looks to do in each and every fight.

To add to the difficulty that Charr will have knocking out Klitschko, both have the same reach. That means that Charr will have a tough time trying to get in close to the champ in order to use his power to punish Klitschko.

Without the same power that he used to have, Klitschko is much better off trading jabs with Charr. Doing so will help Klitschko score points throughout the fight, setting him up for a fight that will go the distance and that is his specialty.

Charr's lack of a distinct advantage in this fight is a huge blow to his hopes of becoming the new heavyweight champion
