Manny Pacquiao: What's Being Said on Potential Superfight vs. Floyd Mayweather
Nov 12th 2012, 17:02

It seems that all Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather do is talk.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed on that front, as the two—surprisingly—still haven’t come to terms on one of the most anticipated bouts in boxing history.

While Pac-Man has an upcoming match—his fourth fight against Juan Manuel Marquez—"Money" is currently on hiatus, with no opponent scheduled and no fight upcoming in the foreseeable future.

If Pacquiao winds up dispatching Marquez for a third-straight time, he’s going to run out of worthy opponents and, at age 33, is running out of time in the prime of his career.

Would the Filipino pugilist be willing to take on Money Mayweather after Marquez?

We certainly hope so, so let’s take a look at the latest rumblings on a potential mega-fight between these two champions.

Freddie Roach Suggests a Timetable

Pacquiao’s legendary trainer has finally come out and said that he believes that if this fight doesn’t happen soon, it’s probably never going to.

He recently told Jon Saraceno of USA TODAY:

“I think if the fight doesn't happen next year, it never will happen," Roach said. "People are getting bored and tired of (talking about it). We're chasing a rabbit we can't catch."

While boxing fanatics may still be drooling at the chance to witness these two elite brawlers go at it, Roach has a point.

After all these years, something has to happen before interest wanes and the fight isn’t nearly as lucrative as it could be if it took place in the near future.

Pac-Man Needs Knockout

While Pac-Man’s reputation was stained after a stunning loss to Timothy Bradley back in June, it will be beyond repair if he doesn’t put together a convincing win against Marquez in their fourth bout.

According to Phil D. Jay of World Boxing News, the Filipino is aware that he needs to KO his opponent on December 8 in order to force Mayweather into accepting a bout.

If Pacquiao is truly trying to secure one last big payday in a fight to end all fights against Money, expect him to go all out looking for a stoppage next month.

Money Avoiding Fight?

Pac-Man certainly believes Mayweather is ducking him, venting to the press while he prepares to fight Marquez.

"If the fight doesn't happen, it's not my fault. I'm not going to accuse him of being greedy or judge him. It's hard to judge. It's his title, it's his life, [but] I believe he is avoiding me," Pacquiao said, according to boxingscene.com (h/t ESPN).

Considering Money has been making headlines for feuding with rappers, it seems that boxing is not the highest priority right now for the undefeated prizefighter.

Let’s hope that changes after December 8.
