Before Floyd “Money” Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs) squares off against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs) on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the duo will embark on a cross-country media tour to promote their fight.
The first stop will be at a press conference in Times Square in New York City presented by Showtime Sports.
This will be the first time in public that the undefeated fighters stand toe-to-toe, and with so much anticipation about this superfight, the expectations for Mayweather and Alvarez’s first encounter are through the roof.

Keys to Victory For Mayweather and Canelo
Mayweather’s Speed and Elusiveness
The most obvious advantage for Mayweather is his experience edge over Alvarez—Money is 36 years old and Canelo is just 22 (but will be 23 when the duo fight)—but the Mexican sensation has proven that he can beat veteran brawlers.
Mayweather won’t just intimidate Alvarez into folding during the fight.
As the more experienced fighter, Money must understand the power that his opponent possesses and game-plan for it by using his speed and elusiveness to fight a defensive bout. While it may not be the sexiest fight, Mayweather is the best defensive fighter and counterpuncher of this generation.
If Money can stay away from matching power with power and stick to the defensive mindset by using his lateral speed, there is little doubt that his elite elusiveness will guide him through all 12 rounds and to a decision victory.
Canelo’s Raw Power
While Mayweather has the distinct advantage in experience over Alvarez, Canelo is one of the hardest punchers the pound-for-pound king has ever squared off against.
Not only does the Mexican star possess the raw power needed to damage Mayweather, the accuracy on his heavy shots will force Money to fight with a more defensive style like he showed at the end of his last fight against Robert Guerrero.
Alvarez is just an inch taller than Mayweather, but as the naturally bigger fighter and with the bout being contested at a catchweight of 152 pounds, Canelo will have the distinctive power advantage in the category that’s the Mexican star’s biggest strength.
If Canelo beats Mayweather, it will be with his raw strength.
