On Saturday, Floyd Mayweather Jr. will once again command the attention of thousands in Vegas and millions around the world. One of the many questions will be whether his girlfriend Shantel Jackson will be in attendance.
There are a great many unknowns entering Saturday's bout: Will Canelo Alvarez prove Money May can be taken down? How many people will plunk down an absurd $75 to see the fight?
One of the more peculiar peripherals has to deal with Mayweather and the tumultuous relationship he seemingly has with Jackson.
Consider this is the same woman who tattoos a heart for every Mayweather win on her arm and you will see a breakup is pretty big news for a man who likes to maintain the persona of invincibility.
Earlier this month, Larry Brown Sports spotted some odd posts from Money's Instagram feed, featuring expensive shoes and purses with one caption that read, "I've got a new business venture coming soon with top of the line women shoes & handbags.."
As LBS notes, one caption reads, "This new venture is by both me and @MissJackson. Coming soon."
Essentially, we have a boxer ready to delve into the land of selling expensive accessories, or he is throwing a sale in the aftermath of an ugly breakup.
It should be noted that he did post a couple of collages of the two with the caption, "#repost#tbt@missjackson" on August 8.
Back in May, Jackson was hit with rumors, like those from Bossip, that alleged she was cheating on Mayweather. We will go ahead and take any gossip with a healthy grain.
Still, when it comes to the rumors of a split, there seems to be a whole lot of smoke near this possible fire.
Newsday recapped the third episode of Showtime's "All Access" and noted one person who was very much missing from the proceedings.
Floyd Mayweather's fiance has been noticeably absent. If the Internet rumors of their breakup is true, that probably explains why Mayweather took the opportunity in this episode to give some air time to all the women The Money Team employees. Each one of them talked on camera about the lavish gifts he provides for them. Again, if the rumors are true, the segment comes off as Mayweather exercising his control as Executive Producer to send a personal message to Shantel Jackson.
A man who is very much brash about his income and swagger is tight-lipped at the moment when it comes to his relationship.
Content to play cool about his status, Mayweather has far more pressing issues on his mind. He will take on a formidable and hungry opponent in Alvarez.
He can go ahead and leave the speculation to the rest of us, who are obviously content to fill in the blanks until he offers some confirmation.
