Amir Khan has revealed his potential mega-money showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in the hands of Golden Boy Promotions, but the Brit is adamant he has what it takes to beat the invincible American.
Khan has remained quiet amid much speculation over what would be the fight of his career, but he claimed in an interview with Fox Sports 1 that he could make Mayweather look his age.
David Anderson of the Daily Mirror provides the quotes:
To fight Floyd Mayweather, you have to box him at his own game. You have to box him. You have to use speed, good footwork. Make them old legs move.

There's a lot of talk about the Mayweather fight happening, but at the moment, I've left it up to my team and Golden Boy.
Mayweather is reaching the twilight years of his career at the age of 36, yet he has arguably never looked better than in his last performance against Saul Alvarez.
It was the type of masterclass that rendered a large percentage of potential rivals irrelevant. Alvarez was bigger and stronger than his rival, yet couldn’t get near him.
That one fight has temporarily left most orthodox knockout artists redundant, promoting footwork and hand speed to the front of the queue as the chief criteria needed to trouble Pretty Boy.
Those are Khan’s primary qualities, which explains why he has been seriously linked to a May 3 bout with Mayweather, per Jeff Powell of the Daily Mail.
The unbeaten American loves to sit back and counter, making opponents miss before tagging them and disappearing.
That suits Khan, who is most uncomfortable when pressured and bullied onto the back foot, as he was in defeats to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.
Against Mayweather, Khan’s task would be tailored to his talent. He would simply need to beat his rival to the punch. It is easy to forget the barrage Khan unloaded on Peterson in the early rounds prior to his eventual loss in Dec. 2011.
Of course, Mayweather’s superior boxing brain and defence—as well as his chin—would likely see Khan outclassed, but the question does remain over what would happen if Mayweather met an opponent with faster reflexes.
The veteran will eventually see his athletic powers and cat-like reactions fade. Khan is built to take advantage if they do.
Speed kills in boxing, which is why there is a very real chance that Mayweather vs. Khan happens.
