Carl Froch and George Groves have both made the 168lbs weight limit for their all-British WBA and IBF super-middleweight contest on Saturday night in a tense but trouble-free weigh in.
Froch lapped up the attention of his supporters, having arrived late at the event due to traffic problems in Manchester. Londoner Groves, meanwhile, was greeted by jeers and "Who are ya?" chants from sections of the gathered crowd.
Groves eventually weighed in two pounds the limit, while his rival Froch tipped the scales at less than one pound under the allowance.
The Nottingham boxer then used the stare-off as an opportunity to get in the ear of his undefeated challenger, but the event largely passed off without incident.
As has become almost customary at such an event, the boxers had to be separated by their teams when on the scales.
Froch later revealed to Sky Sports what he had said to his opponent:
I was just letting him know he is in deep water. The time is now. David Haye will say the same, it's just sort of bringing reality.
In all honesty, I didn't say a great deal that was significant because he was just silent and he looked petrified. Yesterday he looked worried, today he looks really, really worried.
He looks like a really worried man that realises the magnitude of the event and it will be dawning on him. I don't think he's sleeping and he shouldn't be because he's in serious trouble.
The 36-year-old world champion has been the more confident of the two heading into the fight, promising to "annihilate" Groves on Saturday, as reported by the Press Association via the Guardian.
Groves concedes 11 years to his opponent, as well as a few centimetres in height and reach per Boxrec.com. However, the younger man will hope that his hand speed and movement will earn him victory on the night.
The fight will be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office, with pre-fight build up beginning from 6pm on Saturday evening.
Also on the card, Scott Quigg will defend his WBA super-bantamweight title against Diego Silva. The 25-year-old from Bury makes the second defence of his title against the Argentine and will hope for an improved showing on his unconvincing majority win over Yoandris Sallinas last time out.
