Lucas Browne vs. Richard Towers Results: Winner, Scorecard and Analysis
Nov 2nd 2013, 21:50, by Tyler Brooke

Lucas Browne was able to take down Richard Towers in the fifth round of their Commonwealth title fight on Saturday in what was one of the more exciting fights of the day.

These two fighters each came into the fight undefeated, posting a combined record of 31-0 with 26 total knockouts.  However, only one fighter could keep his unblemished record after this Commonwealth heavyweight title fight.

Based off what we had seen in previous bouts, this had the potential to be a serious slugfest that was unlikely to go the distance.

With both fighters knowing how much power the other had, the fight started off a bit slow in the first round, with both of them feeling each other out.  Browne tended to be the instigator in the opening few minutes, making a couple of charges at Towers but without much success.

Towers seemed a bit timid once again to start the second round, but Browne was ready to go, moving in on his opponent and going for some big punches.  Towers seemed too intent to stay back and land a jab here and there, but didn't land many convincing shots.

Things got a bit gritty from time to time in the third, but it was much of the same, with Browne driving and Towers sitting back, only going in to land some quick shots before retreating.  However, Browne landed a big right hand near the end of the round, knocking Towers back to the ropes, then he landed another nice shot that clearly shook the Inferno.

Browne realized the damage he had done, coming out even more aggressive in Round 4.  He landed a few more nice shots in the round, and Towers was just trying to stay defensive and avoid getting knocked down.

Then it all ended in Round 5.

Browne was able to get Towers on the ropes, and then decided to just keep swinging.  Big Daddy landed a number of nice shots on the Inferno, and nearly knocked him out of the ring.  Towers could barely stand, holding onto the ropes, before the referee decided to call it, as it was clear that he couldn't go on.  Mike White from BBC provided this tweet about the fight.

Big Daddy improved to 18-0 for his career, while Towers went down for the first time in his career, moving to 14-1.  Browne was simply more aggressive throughout the entire fight, and he was able to come away with the big win.
