Martin Murray and Scott Quigg Added to Carl Froch vs. George Groves Fight Card
Nov 8th 2013, 10:26, by Ben Blackmore

Fans are in for a huge night of boxing on Nov. 23 after the Carl Froch vs. George Groves card was swelled by two of Britain’s finest.

Martin Murray and Scott Quigg have both been added to the bill, joining heavyweight Anthony Joshua on a packed night of fights at the Manchester Arena.

News of Murray’s inclusion was reported by BoxRec, which quotes Hatton Promotions director of boxing Richard Poxon following the collapse of the scheduled WBA interim middleweight title contest with Garth Wood:

Due to the disappointment of the Australian show falling through we've worked as quickly as we can to get Martin another opportunity in the same timeframe. After all the hard work that went into making the fight with Wood, everyone is gutted about what has happened.

I feel for Martin and Garth Wood, but every cloud has a silver lining and thanks to Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, Martin will still get to box.

Murray, who is yet to discover the identity of his new opponent, is looking to launch another world title assault after he pushed Sergio Martinez all the way in their April collision. The 31-year-old was extremely unlucky to lose a decision to the Argentinian.

Joining Murray on the Nov. 23 card is Quigg, who will defend his WBA super bantamweight belt against Diego Silva, per ESPN.

Silva represents an intriguing challenge. In the past six years he has lost only once and boasts a record of 29 wins, two losses and four draws—per Sky Sports.

However, he does not carry much momentum into the November bout. His only outing of 2013 saw him fight to a draw back in June, ending his five-fight win streak.

Quigg vs. Silva will act as the chief support to Froch vs. Groves, which promises to be one of the biggest battles in recent British boxing history.

The Froch vs. Groves title bout sold out in 11 minutes, per the Nottingham Post, and that was before several other major names were added.

Joshua meets Hector Avila, while two further bouts feature British lightweight champion Martin Gethin against Anthony Crolla, and Scott Cardle vs. Callum Smith.
