It's fight night, fans, and we hope you'll join us for our live coverage of a rare Thursday night crossroads battle at the Barclays Center between two former world champions. It's Victor Ortiz vs. Luis Collazo, and both guys know this might be their last shot at stardom.
Ortiz (29-4-2. 22 KO) is a former WBC welterweight champion, probably best known for intentionally fouling and subsequently being knocked out while trying to apologize to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather in a 2011 fight. He's still young—only 26 on fight night—and will be returning to the ring for the first time in more than 19 months, after breaking his jaw in a loss to Josesito Lopez.
Collazo (34-5, 17 KO) has been in there with some of the best. The former WBA welterweight champion came up short in bouts with Ricky Hatton, Andre Berto and Shane Mosley—the Hatton and Berto fights were highly controversial—and he knows he'll need to win tonight if he wants to earn another chance at the top fighters in the crowded 147-pound division.
In the co-feature, we'll see a pair of undefeated junior middleweights, as super-prospect Eddie Gomez (15-0, 10 KO) takes on Daquan Arnett (11-0, 7 KO).
In our opening bout, featherweight prospect "Mr." Gary Russell Jr. (23-0, 13 KO) takes on dangerous puncher Miguel Tamayo (15-7-2, 13 KO).
Our live coverage will begin tonight at 9 p.m. ET, and you can catch all the action on Fox Sports 1.
